Last year I made this little mini documentary to take you behind the scenes of my act creation process.
I am really glad I undertook this research to explore the relationship between circus and Auslan, however, I understand that with my very rudimentary (self-taught) signing it would be very inappropriate to actually perform.
If I was to develop this research into a performance I would create a duo piece with a Deaf artist- because while I think the meld of Auslan and circus has potential it’s not my place to use it on stage.
